Iceland’s oldest and largest institution of higher education, the University of Iceland is a public research university in Reykjavík. Founded in 1911, it has grown steadily from a small civil servants’ school to a modern comprehensive university with around 14,000 students in twenty-five faculties.

Dr Geir Gunnlaugsson

Paediatrician. Since 2002, Dr Gunnlaugsson has been involved in the development and use of Electronic Health Records (EHR) for preventive child health services in Iceland. Today, all preventive child health services for children aged 0-15 years have a specially designed EHR; one for children aged 0-5 years (SAGA) and another for school health services for children aged 6-15 years (Ískrá). These include all of the child population of the country.
